About Birgu (Vittoriosa)

Birgu, also called Vittoriosa, is the oldest and most atmospheric of the Three Cities across the Grand Harbour from Valletta, a medieval maritime town where the Collachio's narrow lanes, the Inquisitor's Palace and the mighty Fort St Angelo recall the Knights and the Great Siege of 1565. Its restored waterfront, the Birgu (Vittoriosa) marina, is now one of Malta's most appealing dining-and-yachting strips. For investors, Birgu is the Grand Harbour's regeneration play: genuine Knights'-era heritage and marina prestige at prices well below Sliema or Valletta, with healthier yields (~4–5%) and strong appreciation as restoration spreads. Houses of character and palazzini are the value-add opportunity. Non-residents require an AIP permit (non-SDA), and the heritage-constrained supply underpins long-run values.
